GS1 standards allow products to be identified with a standard item numbering and a corresponding bar code symbol. The information about the product is then stored into a databases of the companies. Companies can then transmit the information about the products to their trading partners.
To ensure companies in Malaysia reap the benefits of the GS1 system, GS1 Malaysia organizes GS1 workshops to teach companies the correct method of standard item identification and production of quality bar codes.
