Pharmaceutical Track and Trace Pilot Project 2019

GS1 Malaysia, in collaboration with AEON and Duopharma Biotech Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Duopharma Malaysia Sdn Bhd), championed a Pharmaceutical Track and Trace Pilot Project to demonstrate the benefits of having full visibility in the movement of pharmaceutical products in their supply chain. The objective of this project is to provide full visibility in the supply chain of pharmaceutical products by promoting information sharing between factory, warehouse, distribution centre and retail outlet while using GS1 keys, such as Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) and Global Location Numbers (GLNs) and leveraging on blockchain technology.

The timeline of 8th to 9th May 2019 was given to demonstrate the in-location scanning of GS1-accepted data carriers between Duopharma's factory, AEON's warehouse and the AEON Wellness 1 Utama retail outlet.

Static product information will be stored in the GS1 Malaysia Member Product Databank, (accessible using the GS1 Malaysia Databank Mobile App, GS1 Malaysia Product Search Portal, and GS1 Malaysia Retailer Dashboard). The GS1-accepted data carriers used for this project are the GS1 2D Datamatrix and GS1-128 barcode symbols. This information will be made available to stakeholders via EPCIS and blockchain, which will be provided by GS1 Malaysia's Strategic Alliance Partners GD Innovations and Chaintope.
